Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon

Pretty Soldier Sailormoon

I must admit, after seeing quite a number of Anime titles now, Sailormoon might not be as good as I first thought it to be - but it will remain a sentimental favourite ^^;;

The story revolves around Usagi Tsukino (aka Sailormoon) and her group of friends: Ami Mizuno (Sailormercury), Rei Hino (Sailormars), Makoto Kino (Sailorjupiter) and Minako Aino (Sailorvenus). When evil forces threaten the world, these girls transform into their respective senshi, and fight for love and justice.

When the going gets tough, Tuxedo Kamen appears, to help the Sailor Senshi finish off the bad guys. Tuxedo Kamen's alter-ego is Mamoru Chiba.

Later on, five new senshi join the Inner Senshi (that's Usagi and company) in their fight against evil. In Sailormoon S, Chibiusa reappears to help her future mother in the past, fight as SailorChibimoon. The four Outer Senshi are also introduced - Sailorpluto, Sailorsaturn, and the inseparable Sailoruranus and Sailorneptune.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon consists of five seasons: Sailormoon, Sailormoon R, Sailormoon S, Sailormoon SuperS, and Sailormoon Sailorstars. Plus there are also three movies, a couple of specials, and even live musicals!

Minus episodes where there are insignificant monsters, who have no bearing on the main plot whatsoever, Sailormoon has a pretty interesting and moving plot. (Just watch the full version of the last two episodes of the first season of Sailormoon and you'll see.)

If you've only seen then English dubbed version of Sailormoon (the DiC one) then try to get your hands on some subtitled episodes, because the English version does Sailormoon no justice at all... but then again, badly dubbed and severely edited Sailormoon is better than no Sailormoon ^_^;;

At the moment, the images on this page are ancient, and completed at the time when I was too lazy to render my images properly. Hopefully the'll be fixed up at some point in the future. Hopefully...

Usagi Tsukino / Sailormoon

Usagi Tsukino is Sailormoon - the ditsy, clumsy, crybaby, forever-late, sweets-fanatic heroine of the story. Although Sailormoon does not seem like a model leader, deep down, she is courageous, and she eventually gets her act together in the end.

Sailormoon has a black guardian cat named Luna.

Ami Mizuno / Sailormercury

Studious Ami Mizuno is the brains of the Sailor Senshi. What she lacks in physical strength, she makes up in the brains department. If the Sailor Senshi are lost, or they are not sure of the weakenesses of their enemies, Sailormercury will use her Data Computer to find the answer.

Rei Hino / Sailormars

Rei Hino is Sailormars. With the ability to see visions, the Sailor Senshi often relies on Rei to explain the nature of strange phenomenas or enemies.

Rei's attacks are all fire based, and this is a pretty good power for her, considering that she is often involved in heard arguments with Usagi.

Makoto Kino / Sailorjupiter

Makoto Kino is Sailorjupiter. Mako-chan is the strongest out of the Inner Senshi. But don't let her strength fool you - Mako-chan has a very feminine side to her. She loves to cook, and she's always developing crushes on guys.

Minako Aino / Sailorvenus

Before she joined up with the Sailor Senshi, Minako Aino was SailorV, the first Sailor Senshi. She posed as the Moon Princess until Sailormoon regained her memory.

Usagi and Minako are very much like - in hair colour, and the personality that goes with it ^^;; She's as clumsy and as ditzy as Usagi. She also has a white guardian cat named Artemis.

Mamoru Chiba / Tuxedo Kamen

Past, present or future, Mamoru Chiba will always be Usagi's lover. As Tuxedo Kamen, Mamoru helps Sailormoon and the others by throwing roses that stops the bad guys in their tracks, and saying corny speeches that stalls them long enough for Sailormoon to perform her special moves.

You know a bad guy is finished once he says: "Ima da! Seeraamuun!" ("Now! Sailormoon!")

Sailor Neptune

In her "normal clothes", Sailor Neptune is the elegant violinist Michiru Kaioh. Sailor Neptune is one of the Outer Senshi, and makes her first appearance in the third season of Sailormoon - Sailormoon S. She uses the power of the ocean and a special item called a Deep Aqua Mirror to fight.

Sailor Neptune is Monthly Bishoujo Art's subject for May 2000.

Why is Sailormoon the only anime and manga series to have it's own section? Well, the simple fact is that I have drawn more pictures of Sailormoon than all the other series put together. Besides, it's my favourite series! ^_^
